What do we do in ECSE?
In our classroom, there is a major emphasis on language development. We also focus on the areas of cognition, social development, fine motor and gross motor.
On a weekly basis, our students will attend physical education, music, motor development, and art and cooking biweekly. The children will get recess frequently, if not daily. There will be work on potty training if students are not yet potty trained, as well as building relationships with staff and peers.
We are excited to be starting a new curriculum in the classroom! This year, we will be introducing Creative Curriculum. It will be a great way to share data with families, assess students and give us specific standards to work on. We will be implementing it along with Zoo Phonics.
We are also excited to have a full time speech pathologist devoted to ECSE. Mrs. Toni Browley will be working solely with our kiddos in ECSE, as well as the kids at the local preschools and head starts.
